DESCRIPTION:SSC is teaming up with St Jude’s Food Pantry to provide a Thanksgiving meal for our brothers and sisters in Wilmington who might not otherwise have a feast to share! Here is the shopping list: \nFresh whole chicken or small ham\nFresh potatoes – white and/or sweet\nFresh vegetables – broccoli\, green beans\, collard greens\, carrots\, kale\, etc or any combination\nFresh whole onion\nCanned cranberry sauce\nStovetop stuffing mix\nDinner rolls\nButter \nPlus as many of these items in addition to the meal:\nCooking oil (not olive oil)\nBagged salad and dressing\nEggs\nFresh fruit – bananas\, apples\, oranges\, etc \nYou might notice a theme above…FRESH is the word…except for a few items. It will be a great surprise because they rarely get fresh food. And almost never do they get butter and cooking oil. Their clients do get plenty of desserts\, plus many are diabetic and cannot eat sweets. So\, we’ll skip desserts this year. \nArrive at St. Jude’s\, 19 N 26th Street (near the corner of Market and 26th) between 8-8:30am on Tuesday\, November 25th. Due to the number of items that need refrigeration we cannot collect your donations ahead of time. If you are unable to get there on Tuesday morning\, call a friend to coordinate your delivery. I’ll then open the space for Divine guidance\, draw cards from the tarot and oracle decks\, and interpret the messages\, energies\, and symbols that come through. \nThis will be a lighthearted\, reflective\, and heart-centered experience—a chance to explore our collective energy and share space in community with fellow seekers. \nPlease arrive promptly at 7pm.\nLove offering graciously accepted. \nFacilitated by Diana Perez \nI work full-time in Student Services at UNCW and also teach yoga part-time through the UNCW Wellness Program. Her new book\, Crafting the Wheel of the Year\, co-authored with British author Claire Gelder\, explores the eight holidays of the Celtic tradition and corresponding craft projects. Deb also is author of A Good Friend for Bad Times\, published in both English and German and in a Kindle version. This book is available at Pomegranate Books in Wilmington\, NC and at online bookstores. Her creative nonfiction work and poetry appear in Salvation South and County Lines Literary Journals. Deb publishes a periodic Substack. She retired in 2014 as the Associate Director of UNCW’s School of Social Work. Currently she offers courses\, workshops\, and retreats on a variety of spiritual and personal growth topics. For fun\, she gardens and acts in local theater productions. \n. \n  \nPerry Smith is a multi instrumentalist who gravitates toward a world beat sound. Having played music for most of his life he has found that music is the perfect means to communicate clearly and with love.

She is also a certified Reiki practitioner. She spends time volunteering at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare and caring for our elder community.

What a relief for them to be able to get to a hot breakfast at St Jude’s or the Day Center downtown or to a doctor or therapist appointment. \nLet’s do it again! Her immediate family of 8 often sang along to her mom playing the ukulele in church. Harmony was a must! You can catch Nimara playing out and around Wilmington. Nimara is married to her wife Kristin and they have a daughter Ela as well as a few four legged fur babies.

SUMMARY:Earth Sage Workshop
DESCRIPTION:“Nature is art in living motion” says mixed-media artist Kim Papanicolaou. \nKim is inspired by Mother Nature to collect nature’s gifts (leaves\, feathers\, pine cones\, etc.) and use these objects to design unique art pieces. Fittingly\, Kim calls her pieces ‘Earth Sages’. \nCreating Earth Sages is a soul soothing endeavor that helps Kim process the difficult feelings that arise related to what is going on in the world today. The process helps bring calm and shifts the focus to finding as much joy as possible. This creative activity is intended to help keep you grounded and connected to God\, the earth\, and to others. \nParticipants will have attended the introductory session on October 5th and bring their collected treasures to this session. Kim will guide us in creating our own unique Earth Sage using our treasures and other supplies she will provide. In the process\, we will soothe our souls and offer our joy and love to the world. \nFee: $40 (paid at the introductory session on October 5th) \n \nAll my life\, I have looked at the world differently and it has informed my art. As a child\, I watched my father create glorious outsider art using all sorts of found objects. I learned from him\, to ” just be me\,” without fear of others judging my work. I often use things I find on my daily walks\, or from a junkyard\, as the basis of my work. Focusing on discarded and sometimes\, unloved objects that have been cast aside by others\, often leads me to new perspectives in how I view the world. I am self-trained through experimentation and a constant desire to just see how something turns out.
