Deb also is author of A Good Friend for Bad Times\, published in both English and German and in a Kindle version. This book is available at Pomegranate Books in Wilmington\, NC and at online bookstores. Her creative nonfiction work and poetry appear in Salvation South and County Lines Literary Journals. Deb publishes a periodic Substack. She retired in 2014 as the Associate Director of UNCW’s School of Social Work. Currently she offers courses\, workshops\, and retreats on a variety of spiritual and personal growth topics. For fun\, she gardens and acts in local theater productions. \n. \n  \nPerry Smith is a multi instrumentalist who gravitates toward a world beat sound. Having played music for most of his life he has found that music is the perfect means to communicate clearly and with love.

SUMMARY:Earth Sage Workshop
DESCRIPTION:“Nature is art in living motion” says mixed-media artist Kim Papanicolaou. \nKim is inspired by Mother Nature to collect nature’s gifts (leaves\, feathers\, pine cones\, etc.) and use these objects to design unique art pieces. Fittingly\, Kim calls her pieces ‘Earth Sages’. \nCreating Earth Sages is a soul soothing endeavor that helps Kim process the difficult feelings that arise related to what is going on in the world today. The process helps bring calm and shifts the focus to finding as much joy as possible. This creative activity is intended to help keep you grounded and connected to God\, the earth\, and to others. \nParticipants will have attended the introductory session on October 5th and bring their collected treasures to this session. Kim will guide us in creating our own unique Earth Sage using our treasures and other supplies she will provide. In the process\, we will soothe our souls and offer our joy and love to the world. \nFee: $40 (paid at the introductory session on October 5th) \n \nAll my life\, I have looked at the world differently and it has informed my art. As a child\, I watched my father create glorious outsider art using all sorts of found objects. I learned from him\, to ” just be me\,” without fear of others judging my work. I often use things I find on my daily walks\, or from a junkyard\, as the basis of my work. Focusing on discarded and sometimes\, unloved objects that have been cast aside by others\, often leads me to new perspectives in how I view the world. I am self-trained through experimentation and a constant desire to just see how something turns out.

SUMMARY:Healing Night - Angel Wash
DESCRIPTION:This evening will begin and end with Angel harp music and meditation.  An Angel Wash is a time and practice for all to receive messages of their true divine nature. \nDuring this time\, participants will form two lines facing each other. One person stays at the front of the line and one stays at the end of the line. These two people will send and receive people as they go through the line. When each person goes through the Angel Wash\, their eyes will be closed and their arms folded over their chest. The people in the lines on either side of the people going through the middle will guide them\, gently\, whispering words of love and kindness in their ears. These could be compliments or affirmations. \nPlease arrive promptly at 7pm.\nLove offering graciously accepted.

Meg McBride is the pastor of Hope Recovery\, a United Methodist New Faith Community where everyone is recovering from something (and a is also a person in recovery). \nShe is also the Director of The Warming Shelter – an overnight\, cold-weather emergency shelter for the homeless and she works extensively to address homeless issues in Wilmington\, NC. \nWhen she rests\, she enjoys painting abstract art\, praying with poetry\, riding her bike and cuddling with her dog Stewie. \n  \n  \nOver the past four decades\, Roger Davis has provided the Port City with a sensational serving of musical talent. Whether performing for a crowd of weekend brunch-goers\, a public gallery event\, or the occasional night venue\, Roger “Rog” Davis holds his melodic roots in the Wilmington area and remains a well-respected performer/composer within the local jazz community. A founding teaching artist of DREAMS\, Rog still loves sharing his gift with new generations of musicians. \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:“Nature is art in living motion” says mixed-media artist Kim Papanicolaou. \nKim is inspired by Mother Nature to collect nature’s gifts (leaves\, feathers\, pine cones\, etc.) and use these objects to design unique art pieces. Fittingly\, Kim calls her pieces ‘Earth Sages’. \nCreating Earth Sages is a soul soothing endeavor that helps Kim process the difficult feelings that arise related to what is going on in the world today. The process helps bring calm and shifts the focus to finding as much joy as possible. This creative activity is intended to help keep you grounded and connected to God\, the earth\, and to others. \nParticipants will collect meaningful treasures from nature’s gifts and Kim will guide us in creating our own unique Earth Sage! In the process we will soothe our souls and offer our joy and love to the world. \nIntroductory session today will be followed by the workshop on October 25th. \nFee: $40\nSpace is limited to 10 participants.\nTo register please text Olivia Shaw 910.262.2313. \n \nAll my life\, I have looked at the world differently and it has informed my art. As a child\, I watched my father create glorious outsider art using all sorts of found objects. I learned from him\, to ” just be me\,” without fear of others judging my work. I often use things I find on my daily walks\, or from a junkyard\, as the basis of my work. Focusing on discarded and sometimes\, unloved objects that have been cast aside by others\, often leads me to new perspectives in how I view the world. I am self-trained through experimentation and a constant desire to just see how something turns out.
