Service Project – Soles4Souls
February 16, 2025 @ 11:00 am - 12:45 pm
Soles4Souls is a non-profit that was created in 2006 due to concerns identified following the 2004 tsunami and Hurricane Katrina in 2005. In an effort to reduce illness, injury, and infection, shoes are collected to be distributed to those in need. Soles4Souls turns unwanted shoes into opportunity, by keeping them from going to waste and putting them to good use – providing relief, creating jobs and empowering people to break the cycle of poverty.
Let’s help care for both people and our planet. Bring in the shoes that you don’t wear, have outgrown, or are in poor repair. Even shoes in poor repair are more protective of feet that would otherwise be bare! Single shoes are accepted.
Our youth will decorate packing boxes during their classes in the few weeks before. Stay after the service this Sunday to help secure pairs of shoes with rubber bands and place in the decorated boxes. Boxes will then be ready for pick up by UPS.
Our donated shoes are slated to go to micro-enterprises in developing countries where there are few long-term employment opportunities. Shoes are used to provide individuals with work opportunities as they repurpose textiles, repair and sell shoes. Profits are then available to meet the needs of families including food, shelter, education, and medical care.
