I had one of those days this week that seemed to go sideways. That’s the word that came to mind…sideways. My routine was interrupted early in the day and I didn’t regain my rhythm until dropping into bed. It wasn’t an awful day or one that knocked me to my knees. Thankfully.
The day simply did not unfold according to my calendar. That’s what happened. My attention was drawn away from my normal routine. I responded by setting aside my plans to be present for something else. Something more important. Something urgent.
I have learned that when a call comes, when someone is in need, when there is a greater stirring in the Universe, the calendar doesn’t matter. That routine I am so comfortable in, well, it’s just a routine. What’s important is showing up, listening, connecting, and being present. There is no greater gift we can offer others than to be present in their most tender moments.
The rest can wait.
With great humility
