If you know a situation or event will be difficult…prepare before you go. Answer these questions for yourself. Who and how do I want to be? What do I want to say? What do I expect? Is it reasonable?

Preparing in this way allows you to do your best. It doesn’t mean everything will go perfectly. It means you consciously decided how to engage. You reminded yourself about what’s important. You are grounded, less likely to react and more likely to respond.

Doing your best is always about what is best for you. It doesn’t mean everyone else will be happy or agree with your choice. What is best for you includes having no expectation of others. It also includes accepting the consequence of your decision.

Doing your best is being good with your own self. Satisfied. Knowing you did your best. On that day, at that time, with what you had. YOUR best. Not THE best. And if you decide you can do better, make a different choice next time.

Working on it.
