I wrote this in my journal as a reminder to myself. It might be a good reminder for you, too.

Every single day…you choose. You choose how you want to be. You make choices all day long about how you bring yourself to life.

You choose what you do. You don’t ‘have to’ do anything. Not one single thing. There is only the consequence of each choice. It is the consequence that convinces or compels you to believe you have no choice. You always have a choice.

You choose what you believe. No one makes you believe anything. You choose. All of your beliefs about everything are choices. You can choose a different belief at any time.

You choose the meaning of what you observe, experience, hear or read. You make it mean what you choose to make it mean. Sometimes other people agree with your meaning and other times they don’t. They can choose to make it mean something different.

The way you show up to life, what you do, what you believe and what you make it mean…all choices. It is your power and it is also your responsibility to yourself. It doesn’t make all choices easy. Choosing a different feeling, action or belief in the current circumstance might seem almost impossible. You can practice making the best choice. The best choice is the one you make for your own health and well-being. And the one that honors your values.

Decide. Make a conscious choice. Believe in yourself. Trust yourself. What are you choosing? Make it the best choice for you.

And always be kind.
