I believe in kindness. It doesn’t matter to me how much headline news or Facebook rants scream otherwise. I believe people are good. I believe in seeing the good in others…even if I have to tease it out.

It doesn’t mean people don’t do some horrible things. They do. We do. Out of fear, anger, resentment, greed, the need for power, ignorance, indifference, hate, revenge, frustration, lack…we do and say some truly awful stuff. All of these things are not who we are. They mask over the truth of us.

I believe in kindness because I believe we come from love…and love knows kindness, is kindness at its core. I believe that kindness can sprout forth from anywhere, at any time, for any reason. It might even surprise you. And that’s when you know the power of kindness.

I see it lots of places. I look for it. I want to see it. I want to be more kind. I want my heart to be softened into kindness…often.

I am grateful to these men, in this story, for reminding me of the power of kindness. Thank you.

Much love
Paula
