It’s been a few weeks since I’ve posted. I took a little time off. I visited my mom in Pennsylvania. I have Covid and still dealing with symptoms. Suffice to say I have not been in my normal routine. No trips to the Y for weight training and cardio. No long walks. No errand running or trips to the grocery store. I cooked for my mom when I was in PA…but, not so much since Covid. Taking drugs to help with my symptoms has me feeling off-kilter and out-of-whack. And I’m not sure when things will settle out for me.
I am getting better but I’m not there yet. So, what do you do? Well, I am living the moments the best I can. I rest when I need to and work a little when I feel up to it. I’m not pretending everything is ‘normal’ because it’s not. This is what today looks like and feels like. I’m doing my best to pay attention and take care of myself. I am not compounding my physical discomfort by worrying or wishing things were different. This is my life today. MY life. Today.
I’ve been reading the book The Courage to be Disliked. Here is an idea that has helped me live more fully in these last three weeks: Think of life as a series of dots. Seemingly linear existence is actually a series of dots; in other words, life is a series of moments.
I am looking forward to feeling more like myself and getting back to my healthy routines. I’ll live that dot when I’m there. In the meantime, I’ll live the current dot the best I can.
