What do you do with a hard day? Well, like all the others…you live it. The best you can. Not afraid of how you look. Not afraid of being judged. Not pretending it’s all good.

Here’s something else…leave some space in a hard day. Don’t spend all your energy trying to make it better. Leave some space…space to simply be present. When I do this, it never fails that some tiny bit of joy breaks the surface.  Something I notice…a bird or flower or cloud. Or some random kindness.

I need that tiny bit of joy in a hard day. We need it. We need it more than we know. It’s what keeps us afloat even if the boat is sinking. That bit of lightness takes away the despair for just a moment. What a relief.

Hard days are…hard. No doubt about it. If I am willing to leave a little space, I might just find a bit of lightness to help me through.
