“Don’t get so used to chaos that peace feels like something is wrong.”
I read this in The Pivot Year by Brianna Wiest. I starting thinking about chaos and peace.
There is enough chaos around. We feel it and we contribute to it with the stories we tell ourselves. Life is uncertain and uncomfortable. Sometimes it is chaotic. I remind myself that out of chaos comes the next highest possibility. It helps me see the value of chaos and not to get so off-center while I’m in the middle of it. It helps me to dance with chaos rather than to be destroyed by it.
What about peace? Do I have a similar approach? Or am I waiting for the other shoe to drop? For that one thing to destroy it all? Do I engage peace in my life?
There is enough peace around. We feel it and we contribute to it with the way we live. Life is often peaceful and easy. I remind myself that peace is a way of being and I get to choose peace. I recognize, name and appreciate peace in my life. I know peace is an inside job. I dance with peace by practicing peace, no matter what.
Chaos and peace. Side by side. Nothing wrong. Just the dance.
