What is the title of your story? It is a question we were asked at a writing retreat I went to last year. Here is my answer.

My story is called “Still here, still going at it, not knowing how or where it could possibly end”. Not really a title, is it? It can’t be called just one thing. That makes the story too damn small. My story can’t be captured in a headline. It needs some space. Because you can’t know me in a title or a single word. Life and stories are much too complex, rich, hard, sweet. One single title is just not enough. Sorry. Not sorry.

I don’t have a title. That being said…I do love my story. Because it’s mine and I’ve lived it and breathed it…and it’s knocked me down a few times…it’s given me the run-around. It’s been beautiful and free, sad and lonely, I’ve failed and triumphed. I love my story. I wouldn’t trade it for any other story. Ever.

I like calling it mine. And if this is how I feel about my story, I’ll bet you feel the same way about yours. How about that? Pretty great, right?

So, what is the title of your story?

All is well
